Meet our N. Bethesda trainer

Matt Freeman

“Positive dog training is more than just a method—it’s a philosophy that transforms the bond between you and your dog into a partnership built on trust, respect, and mutual understanding. As trainers, we’ve seen firsthand this approach’s incredible impact on dogs and their owners. By rewarding good behavior rather than punishing mistakes, we create an environment where dogs feel safe, confident, and eager to learn”

Matt is a Maryland native who has always had a passion for animals and a natural affinity with dogs. This natural affinity has made him an asset while working at boarding facilities and working with difficult dogs before he decided to pursue his passion of training. His goal is to improve the relationships between pet parents and their pups in a realistic way. He is well versed in different training methods and capable of instilling the gentlest and most effective communication method between pup and pup parent. He will work closely with each person and pup to find the best method to safely and effectively reach their picture perfect relationship with their canine companion. From little chihuahuas to big ol’ fox hounds, Matt is capable of providing guidance and support for dogs with play, praise, and structure. His goal is also to ensure people understand their dog’s body language and feel confident in their ability to live comfortably and peacefully with their furry friends.

I highly recommend Olde Towne Pet Resort, especially if you’re looking for training! I brought my 4 year old beagle for the week long stay and train (it was her first time being trained) and it has made a world of difference. I was a little nervous to be leaving her for that long at first, particularly because of some concerns I had with her being around other dogs, but the trainers sent me several videos of her each day to demonstrate her progress. This not only put my mind at ease, but it was so helpful when it came to me carrying over all the techniques when the week was over. Now I feel confident taking my dog to the dog park, and she’s walking so much better on the leash!

Rufus had a great two week board and train at Olde Towne Pet Resort in Bethesda. We handed over a 4 year old rescue golden retriever with no manners and got back a dog that returns to us on voice commands, knows “down” and “place” and “off” and is much more manageable on a walk. We have work to do as well, as pet parents, but we are well on our way to being a much happier, healthier family who enjoys this big Red Dog.
